Question

Changing Default electronic document viewer in Laserfiche Client.

asked on July 15, 2014

Hello Everyone,

I have a used case that I am trying to resolve:

The Workstation has Adobe Reader and Fox It Standard installed on a workstation. I have set the Windows default for PDF documents to open in Fox It. When I right click on the PDF document and open the electronic file only, it opens up the document in Fox It. Although, when I open up the document in Laserfiche document viewer, it shows the electronic file pane with Adobe Reader. Is there a way I can switch the default for electronic document viewer to Fox It as well?

Thank you in advance.

Best,

Himanshu

The internal document viewer pane will always use Adobe Reader. If you want the pdfs to open externally in Fox It by default, you can go to the view section in Tools->Options and change the default opening behavior of PDFs to external application.

So, if I only have Adobe Acrobat Pro on my PC my only option is to open PDF files by default using the associated application. If I want the Laserfiche Client to open PDFs in the Laserfiche Document Viewer, I have to install Adobe Acrobat Reader. Are those accurate statements?

I am running Windows 8.1 Enterprise and the option I am referring to is below.

With the settings above I get a message when I open a PDF file in Laserfiche saying "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement". However, I do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader. I only have Adobe Acrobat Pro.
