Enhancement Request: Better Sorting

asked on July 14, 2014

A user has pointed out to me a difference when sorting documents in Laserfiche versus sorting documents in Windows Explorer. We have several documents in a folder named as so: Section 1, Section 100, Section 200, Section 300, Section 400, Section 500, Section 600, Section 700, Section 800, Section 900, Section 1000, and Section 1100. In Windows Explorer it sorts alpha-numerically in that order. In Laserfiche however it puts Section 1000 and Section 1100 directly after Section 100. It would be great if Laserfiche sorted the same in that respect.

Yes, having natural sorting available would be great.

As a workaround, you can always prefix your folder names:

Section 0100

Section 0200

...

Section 1100

Section1200

That should fool the sorting algorithm into working in the expected manner.
