Question

QuickFields Toolkit scripting - Image manipulation sample

asked on July 11, 2014

I will need to develop a script within QuickFields in order to perform page manipulation.  I don't really know where to start.  Does anyone have a working example of a QF script that would load each page (image) and split the page in two page ?

Need to scan 11x17 pages that contains 2 pages of 8.4 x 11.  So I would like QF script to cut in half all pages.

Any ideas ?

Quick Fields scripting does not have the ability to add pages to documents.

Hi Daniel,

I'm pretty sure this isn't possible with 'out of the box' functionality from Quick Fields and would need to be scripted. Having said that wouldn't it be easier to do this splitting at the scanning stage? Most scanners have the ability to split pages in the way you mentioned.

I know it is possible to split documents using a script in workflow (I've seen it in action!). Not sure about QF though.

Just a thought.

Hope this helps!

I do confirm this is not possible to perform this page separation task within QuickFields with out-of-the-box activities.

The scanner model that the customer is using doesn't have that capability to split page.

What I mainly need to do is, if I get a 11x17 page, I need to split it in half and get two 8.5x11 page out of this split.  Within the scan pages, there will also be some 8.5x11 pages and we shouldn't split them.

This is the reason why I don't think a scanner driver/soft will perform this so I am trying to script it within QuickFields.

Because there is no real documentation about QF Scripting, I am wondering if someone (Laserfiche developper/VARs/Users) could share how to get the page from QF, then I could write the routine to split the page, and then how can I push both page to QuickFields to complete processing.

This would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmmm. Interesting.

So before the script splits the pages, it will first have to determine if the page is 11x17 or 8.5x11 to then decide whether or not to split the page.

Curious to see how you get on.

Thanks Minuna for this feedback.  This is kind of cutting my inspiration but, I will probably need to perform part of this task within a Workflow Script.

But I think this might be a helpful feature and would allow better scanning strategies to be deployed.   Can this be added to the list of feature request ?
