error 780 after server upgrade to 9.1.1.545

asked on July 7, 2014

I had a client upgrade from LF 8.3.1 to 9.1.1.545 (both server and clients) over the weekend.  They have found that they now cannot log into the repository from the LF 9.1.1.545 clients.  I had them try downgrading a client to 9.1.1.486 but they still get the same issue.  The only way they are able to log in is with WebLink (and of course that is using LF8 DLLs).

Is there a way to resolve this issue?  Can the server be taken back to 9.1.1.486 or will that cause issues with the DB?

I had run into the communication error in SP1 shortly after it was released and missed that an updated SP1 had been released to address the issue.  So when they told me that they had upgraded to 9.1.1 SP1 and were having a connection issue, I immediately said it must be an SP1 issue and focused solely on that.

The client had not only upgraded, but they also moved to a new server.  The reason they could not connect is that the clients had "scan network for repository" turned off and were all mapped to the old server.  Once we removed the old mapping and added the new mapping, they were able to log in without problem.

Alex, thanks for the help and the info, but this was one of those cases were I overlooked the obvious because I assumed it was related to the earlier issue in the LF SP1 software.

Please review KB 1013480. Note that Laserfiche 9.1.1 Service Pack 1 was re-released to address a connection issue between the Client and Server. Perhaps this is what your customer is running into. Manually uninstall the current version of the service pack from the Windows Control Panel > Program and Features > View installed updates section. Then apply the updated service pack from the KB and see if there's still an issue. If there is, please open a case with Laserfiche Support.

I have passed this on to the client and will update once I get the results.

I had the customer, on the LF Server machine, go into Add/Remove Programs and remove all LF SP1 items (Client, Scanning, Server), reboot, install the freshly downloaded SP1 packet from ftp://ftp.laserfiche.com/pub/LF/KB/1013480/KB1013480.zip, reboot, and finally log in.  This still resulted in an error.

I then had the customer remove all LF SP1 items and reboot.  Then logging in still continues to throw the same error.
