Question

Workflow Will Not Start

asked on June 27, 2014

Hello…..

My colleague and I are trying our first Workflow session and so far, we have not seen success.  Everything looks correct…but the Workflow does not start.

We both work from our desktop machines …….not the Workflow server.

This Workflow has one Activity…Route Entry to Folder….we want to Move the document.

Since there are only two of us that support LF, we are both Administrators……verified in the Security > Permissions and Rights tab of the Workflow AdCon.

Here is the Starting Rule and the results from the Subscriber Tracer after a document is created in the monitored folder:

[TRUE] If all of these conditions are true:

            [TRUE] Repository: 'Training' <equals> 'Training'

            [TRUE] Entry Path: '\HR Test' <contains> '\HR Test\'

[TRUE] Entry Type: 'Document' <equals> 'Document'

            [TRUE] User: 'DRAULIE' <does not equal> 'SA_WF'

There are no Wait Conditions.

We use a Laserfiche Service Account (SA_WF) that has Admin powers in the Training repository and have verified that it does login to the Training repository.

Still…the WF will not start.

Any suggestions on where to look for the problem(s) are appreciated.

Thank you.

Dennis

Just so we're on the same page, how are you determining the workflows are not starting? Are you looking at recent/today's activity search in the Designer or are you looking in Laserfiche and not seeing the document being moved (or renamed or having its fields set)?

Hi Miruna...

Thank your for the response.

Primarily I watch to see if the file gets moved.....it does not.

I was unaware of the Search function in the Designer (Thank you....that's handy)...

I did a search in the Designer for Workflow Status, With Errors, Warnings, and Messages checked and with time frame set to This week.

There was one error from yesterday morning.  I had pressed the green  button to Run the Current Workflow and it ran but Terminated with Entry Not Found [0472-WF1]....expected result.

Regards....

Dennis

So the search you ran indicates that the Workflow never triggered?  If you run a search you should see the Workflow that ran.  Even if it errors it tells you that it at least started.  That's an important distinction because a Workflow could trigger but then error and not move the document.  Since the WF is not even starting it is going to be your starting rules or something with the Subscriber.

Can you try restarting the Workflow and Subscriber service?  Also what does [TRUE] User: 'DRAULIE' <does not equal> 'SA_WF' indicate?

Usually it is just User <does not equal>  SA_WF.  How did you get Draulie in there after User?  This is meant so that the account running WF does not trigger itself.  Since it works on document creation can you simply remove the user restriction to test?

No, that user condition is fine. that's a list of the conditions as listed in the Subscriber trace, so it's OK to see the actual value in it.
