Question

how do i display the OCR'd value of a field to the user's display

asked on June 26, 2014

I'm starting to process a lot of old paper documents.  A good number of them are formatted forms. Some have typed numbers and text in various fields.  Some have hand written numbers.  OCR will likely not deal with the hand written fields very well so I would like to scan the document in, and then have a popup that displays the 3 or 4 significant fields to the operator so that they can compare the paper document to the OCR'd value.  If the value is correct, process it.  If not, allow the operator to make a correction and then process it through our AutoFile Workflow.

Any assistance will be most appreciated.

thanks,

This is something that can be done in Quick Fields by configuring Zoom Fields. See this page for more information about Zoom Fields.

The idea behind it is when Quick Fields scans in documents and gets field values from certain parts of the page, i.e. using Zone OCR, then in the document revision pane, when users click in a specific field, it will zoom to the part of the page that contains the relevant data and the user can then ensure the proper value is set in the field.

We don't have QF, but maybe I can use this as leverage when trying to justify the purchase.

Thank you for your prompt reply.
