Question

Search index updating

asked on June 26, 2014

I was wondering if the text that is generated is edited how long does it take for it to be indexed when so that it is available within Laserfiche. I currently have a client that when they edit the text that it is saved it does not come up in searches at times. Does this have anything to do with the search catalog being updated?

Yes, it does have to do with the update of the search catalog. The time required for re-indexing depends upon the version of the Laserfiche Server being used and available memory for the Full Text Search Engine.

System configuration can be altered in order to speed up the re-indexing process. Consider (1) updating to Laserfiche 9, as it is able to provide faster indexing than previous versions; (2) putting the Full Text Search Engine on its own machine if it is not already and; (3) increasing the physical memory available to the Full Text Search Engine.

Here is the indexing page in the user guide as an additional resource.

The system is up to date with the latest version of Laserfiche with the latest build for the server. Apparently there was an issue with the LFFTS that was causing an issue. I restarted the services and it began to update correctly for searches.
