Question

9.1.1 SP1, Indexed shows as "No"

asked on June 25, 2014

We upgraded one of our customers this weekend to version 9.1.1 SP1.  All documents that were created since then have "Indexed" come up as "No" even though Index status is "Ready" and it is set to index on document creation.

We tried searching a document for text (a word we know is there) and it came back with no context hits available.

We then OCRed the file from Client 9.1.1. No change in the indexed column (still says "No"), however, we could now complete the search and were able to find text on a page. Same search we had done before we OCRed.

After we OCRed the file, we checked the Index properties. It shows the last document indexed is the one we OCRed.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

Doing a reindex fixed this.

OCRed and indexed are two different things. When the document was added, was it already OCRed?  Chances are that it was imported without being OCRed so it did not have text associated with it.  No text means it won't be searchable even if it was indexed or if its status says indexed.

They were OCRed when they were imported.

You should open the document itself and see if there is actual text.

There is text.  You can find a word that is in the text pane, then go back and search it and find no results.  Then, if you go back and OCR again, the search returns the document.

The next time it happens, open a case with Support and provide a copy of the document.
