Question

Laserfiche Usage

asked on June 24, 2014

 Hello to the Laserfiche Universe.

Has anyone every used or heard of Laserfiche being used as a tracking and control software for management of archived boxed files?  I'm sure using Forms to create a "file retrieval request" form, Check in / out to track files and or boxes, Audit Trail for reporting of usage and requests, as well as some inventive use of Bar Code to track boxes (or paper tracking equivalent) I could adapt Laserfiche to this functionality.  I was just wondering if anyone had ever done this before?

Digitized documents would be stored in the same system as a bonus.

Thanks

Jeff

Right so we are currently in the process of doing this exact thing for our Records Manager/Archives.  We have made a form that will be available via the intranet that someone can fill out to either retrieve a file or request pickup of files that need to be stored/archived.  Everything you're suggesting is basically what we are currently developing.  What kind of issues if any were you envisioning?

I know of several organizations that use Laserfiche for tracking physical boxes. Currently I do not believe they are using Forms for requests. The base of it is they are using a template that includes a fields for warehouse, shelf, row, column, etc. On some of them they even take a picture a picture and associate with the document. Most of the time there are no pages to the document though and are just simply using the template metadata. The name of the empty document is usually the box number.

As an addition to what Ramon and Blake have already mentioned, Laserfiche also offers an integration with Infolinx that provides for physical records management functionality.
