Question

Text Box text format

asked on June 22, 2014 Show version history

I have a report that is added as a Text Box to an image.

The current default Text Box font appears to be Arial, which is a proportional font.  If a report uses columns then the format of the report is very poor.

For example:

BAS Activity Statement

Document ID              27165678230

Client Name               FERRARI RED
Client Type                Individual,
ABN                       26 666 713 273
Account No.              1
Account Status          Active
TFN                         257666227
WPN
Status                         New
Hold Reason
Type                        Annual GST Return
Name                      FORM P
Period Start              1/07/2012
Period End               30/06/2013
DueDate                  28/04/2014

As can be seen, the columns are out of alignment and even with a bit juggling they do not look good.

A non-proportional font such as Courier would fix this.

As far as I am aware there is no way to change this font.  It would also be nice if we could add a bold command or other simple formatting.

Perhaps something for the future!

Hey Peter,

This is a neat idea!  We'll add this to the list of features to consider adding to our future releases!  If you're looking for a report to be formatted for two columns of left-sided justification, in the meantime, it might be worth investigating whether you want to use two text boxes, side-by-side, to display your information in a neater format.  You could even leverage a workflow with pattern matching to parse out the information for you and automate the creation of the second text box.

We appreciate your feedback and suggestion!

Thanks Rob,

Quite a bit of juggling, but two text boxes resulted in neatly formatted columns.

It would be nice to be able to add a tab to the Text Box to allow easy column formating.

One concern is the use of pixels to align the text boxes in Custom Location.  Is it likely that the use of pixels will alter the text box location if the screen resolution changes?

It shouldn't affect the location of either text box independently, meaning that any shifting due to changes in screen resolution should affect the text boxes similarly to ensure that they remain properly formatted.
