Question

Can PhotoDocs be configured to automatically extract metadata - including geo-positioning information from digital photos (and tag information from Photoshop Elements)?

asked on June 20, 2014

We have a client that is looking to import digital photos and accompanying metadata reflecting geopositioning into Laserfiche.  Can PhotoDocs be configured to automatically extract metadata?  They are specifically interested in capturing tag information from Photoshop Elements.

Thanks.

AFAIK PhotoDocs doesn't look any deeper than the pixel data. However, it should be fairly straightforward to find an imaging component that you can use from a Workflow Script and extract the relevant metadata. I was able to find a lightweight component that will take a FileStream and list out the EXIF data.

I don't know how Photoshop Elements stores it's tags, but it might be in with the regular EXIF data. You'll probably want to find an app that will let you look at the raw metadata and see if the tags are in there.
