Forms: "Please enter an email address" error

asked on June 20, 2014

Hello,

In Chrome I am getting this error message when trying to submit a form.  There aren't any email address fields on the form, and the error is only displaying in Chrome.  In IE it works just fine.  I tried clearing out my cache and browsing history, but that didn't alleviate the issue.

Any ideas why this is happening?

The issue is caused by the "enable autofill to fill out web forms in a single click" and "Offer to save your web passwords" in Password and forms settings in Chrome. If user choose "Remember password" after login Forms site, the email and password inputs for save unfinished area when filling the form will be auto filled with the username and password that user used to login Forms site, since the username is not in the format of an email, so there will be error "Please enter an email address". If you check the "save unfinished form to complete later" checkbox after the error appear, you will see the email and password inputs are highlighted like this:

This issue is already fixed in Forms 9.2 and there are two workarounds for this issue in released Forms:

1. click the "Submit" button again after the error appear, you will be able to submit the form

2. uncheck "Offer to save your web passwords" for and remove the saved password for Forms site for Chromes settings from following place:

Is there a hidden field for an email address?

That would make sense, but their isn't.

It's happening on a couple of different forms we have in house, and on multiple computers/logins.

Can you export the business process, rename the extension to .txt, and attach it to this thread? Or you can open a support case and attach the original .xml file there.

I've attached the business process.  Thanks!

The issue looks to be related to allowing users to save incomplete forms for later. A bug has been filed and we'll update this thread when more information is available.
