Question

metadata panel font

asked on June 18, 2014

Is there a way, other than with the default Windows font, to change the size of the font in the document browser metadata panel?

Hi Edward,

Edit: See Michael Allen's post below for a solution.

There isn't a way to do this at the moment outside of changing the Windows fonts. Could you describe your use case? Why do you want the metadata pane contents to be presented in a different font size? What advantage(s) will this bring you? Are you primarily concerned with the size of the field labels, the field contents, or both?

this is actually a feature I'd like to see added if that is possible.  One of our users, when viewing the metadata/template window, views extremely small text.  we tried adjusting the size of the default windows text, as well as the font size through LF.  every other letter size gets affected, except for the metadata/template window.

to answer your questions, Kelsey - I'd say having control of any text would be VERY handy.  we do have a bunch of users who have issues bc text is too small for them to clearly read.

In the metadata pane press Ctrl++ (hold down "Ctrl" and press the plus key '+') to increase the font size, and Ctrl+- (Ctrl and the minus key '-') to decrease the font size. Ctrl+0 resets the font size to the default.

Note that the above works for the Fields tab but not the Tags, Links, or Versions tabs. Ctrl++ and Ctrl+- also work to zoom in and out, respectively, in the document viewer's image pane.

awesome!  this worked on my computer.  but just so you know - I went to the user's computer who asked this question and I cannot adjust it.  she is running windows xp.  I'm guessing, that has something to do with it.

thank you for the information tho!  we can definitely make use of this tip.  :-)

I don't have an XP machine handy to test on, but it might start working if you upgrade Internet Explorer to version 8. Not that I would recommend such a drastic change just for this but if you have a user running XP with IE8, please give it a try.

Is there any way to save the zoom level of the metadata pane?  Clicking the Ctrl +, does zoom (for me), but after closing the document and opening it or another, the metadata pane is reset back to original size.
