Question

Question

Limiting access to only the documents a user creates?

asked on June 18, 2014

Working on a Requisition Workflow and trying to keep users from poking around and looking at everything in the sign-off process.  The template does have a "creator" field.  Using Workflow 8.0.1.

There are @ a dozen Groups involved in the sign-off process that have Access Rights.  But could the creator that submits the requisition be given their right to see the document by using the "Assign Rights" activity when the document is created?

If you are using that old of a workflow process the only thing that comes to mind for me is to use security tags. You'd have to create a security tag for every user however.

Then you just tag each user with their own tag and then give everyone the right to see that folder tree.

Only the docs with that security tag will be visible to the end user.

Thanks, Chris, for your suggestion on the Security Tags.

Could an LF Tech respond about the "Assign Rights" question, please?  The customer is interested in a solution to this, quickly.   Thanks.

Hi Bruce,

I think that should work.  If you set the workflow to be launch on document creation, and then use the Assign Rights activity to grant access to the workflow initiator, that should accomplish what you're looking for.
