Question

Typing for item in drop down box

asked on June 17, 2014

In version 8.3 of Laserfiche client you had the ability to type the first few letters of an item in a drop down box and the system would go to that item.  This was useful when we had a number of items that started with the same letter (ie Capital, Charter, Change Order.) Now if I want to get to Charter, it will only go to the first item that begins with the letter you type.  In v8.3 if I wanted to go to Charter I could type CHAR and it would go directly to Charter.  Now when I type CHAR I end up with the first item that starts with R.  Is this how it is supposed to work now or is there a setting I can configure to go back to the way it worked before?

Hi Mark,

What version of the Laserfiche Client are you using? I'm testing Client 9.1.1 and I can type a string of characters into a list field and have it select the value properly. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a 1.3 second delay until it clears out the current find phrase so if more than that amount of time passes between each keystroke, then that could explain what you are seeing.

Thank you that is what it was.  I was just a little bit too slow.

Hi Alexander,

Can this time (1.3 seconds for each keystroke) be changed?

One of my clients is typing a very long number (20 digits) and he needs to do pauses in order to see and memorice the following block of digits.

Thanks

@████████  does this behavior work with Dynamic fields or just standard list fields?

This also applies to dynamic fields.
