Question

Integration with Cobol

asked on June 12, 2014

Hi, i know that with LF i can develop .net and java languages but I have this client who is really interested with Laserfiche's integration with Cobol. I tried to offer him out of the box solutions using web servers and so on but we need to know whether we can have pure coding in cobol?

Short answer: No.

There are a few implementations of Cobol on top of .NET. So, depending on what you mean by "pure coding" You might be able to write Cobol that will interact with Laserfiche using some of these.

What kind of integration is he interested in?

Recent versions of Micro Focus COBOL can invoke COM, .NET and Java libraries, so that should allow your customer to access LF directly from a COBOL program, although we (Laserfiche) haven't tested it. COBOL running in a non-Windows environment is unlikely to be able to directly access Laserfiche.

IT IS ABOUT REFERRING THE LASERFICHE LIBRARIES IN THE COBOL.
