Question

Import Agent and Dropbox, Google Drive, or nCryptedCloud

asked on June 11, 2014

Just wondering, has anyone set up Import Agent with any of the web based file sharing services, specifically Dropbox, Google Drive, or nCryptedCloud?  Looking at all three, Dropbox looks to be the easiest to set up, but they all have different wrinkles, especially when it comes to authentication.

I've set up Import Agent and Google Drive for demos before. It requires that you sync Google Drive to a folder in Windows, but that's about the only configuration required. Pretty simple (obviously, as you mentioned, you do need to figure out what/whose account will be logged in).

Thanks Aaron - We'll document the process, the wrinkle in this instance is that they want to show multiple different folders from a handful of locations in use.  It should not be a lot different than showing one, however.

Continuing in this exploration - DropBox is moving away from Public Folders, but their Shared Folders fill a similar purpose.  These are folders you create, and then invite specific people to share via their E-Mail Address.  Once they confirm, each party can add or remove files from the shared folder. For cases where you need to collect files from a lot of different places, this is a great (and no cost) solution, especially when teamed up with Import Agent.
