Workflow Reporting

asked on June 4, 2014

Is there a built in reporting program for looking at completed workflows and history.   I see in workflow designer you can view things but does not show older completed workflows that happened 3 months ago.

Please let me know what options i have

There is nothing built in that adds reporting functionality beyond searching in the Workflow Designer. You can, however, open up the Workflow database and do reporting directly from there if you need more.

As far as going back farther, that data is automatically purged by Workflow. The default is 90 days. The good news is that you can change that default in the Workflow Administration Console.

There is some additional reporting available. First, you can do SQL reporting on the Workflow database. There are also workflow statistic reports (under "Workflow" above the toolbar), and inside workflow instance details there are some graphs available. As pointed out, if you want older information, you'll want to change the performance maintenance defaults.

The Workflow Designer's Workflow Statistics Report actually has very useful data.  For each Workflow, it provides:

  • Number of instances executed
  • Number of instances running
  • Number of instances Completed
  • Number of instances Terminated
  • Average, Min and Max execution time

Plus provides some basic charting of  those values, and provides for a CSV export of that report data.
