Feature request: Workflow Notification Upon Document Relationships Added/Removed

asked on June 3, 2014 Show version history

Document relationships typically come with integrity constraints that can be enforced by workflows. So is the case for my client's project.

For that reason, workflow notifications are required upon relationships being added to/removed from documents.

Thanks to Laserfiche for considering

I agree that this would be an excellent feature. The fragility of relationships/links is what makes me hesitate to use them as a part of daily business. Often, documentation should travel in packages and links are the best way to do that. The alternative, which my users adopted without asking, is to scan/import all the documents into a single Laserfiche document.

I think we need at least:

  1. Notification/event for Workflow to start off of
  2. Ability to detect if a document has any relationships and act on the documents that are linked within a workflow activity. I'm picturing a For Each... kind of activity.
  3. View metadata within the Links pane in the LF client. Names are not always helpful enough.
  4. Provide an easier/alternative way to find a document to link (manually) via the client. Maybe a small search window instead of browsing?
