Text Alignment - Forms

asked on May 27, 2014

How can I get our external form to view as the internal version for text alignment? When using checkboxes, our text aligns too high. See attached images.

Hi Meegan,

Are you using the same theme, customized css for both internal and external forms?

Yes, same theme however have not done any CSS on this form. Basic template at this point.

What I see on my designer screen (internal view) is not what is seen on the published form (external form).

I think you are looking at the version in the "Edit" tab, versus if you were to hit the preview button, am I correct?

The Edit area will not look like the published version, that's why you are given the "Preview" button, to allow you to see how it will look to the users.

You also may want to use some CSS to customize those options to make the text slightly larger and fit the boxes better. Try changing things inside the theme page first though, as that is the easiest way to make small changes

I had previously adjusted the text to see if that worked however that was not successful. Yes, I am aware the preview versus edit are not exact replicas however I have not had this much variation in views.

If I were to CSS the text, what would you suggest? Appreciate your help!

Without working with your form, I'm not really sure what the issue is. You could try adding the following CSS rule to the CSS and JavaScript page.

.form-option-label {vertical-align:middle;}

If that doesn't work, would you be willing to upload the business process here (just change the extension to .txt) so the Forms team can take a look?

A few other questions to ask:

  • What browser are you viewing the external form in?
  • Is this the browser you're using for the internal version?

Eric,

Thank you - the BP is attached. I have viewed the form in Mozilla Firefox and IE and have had similar results. I prepare the forms in Mozilla Firefox and view in various formats for accuracy.

We're having some trouble importing your business process. What version of Forms are you on? Would you mind exporting and uploading the process again?

It looks like the .txt file does not contain valid XML and that's the reason we're unable to use it. Please try the following, so we can see if this is a different issue to sort out.

  1. When you download the business process, ensure that file extensions are shown in Windows.
  2. Right-click the file and select Rename.
  3. In the file name, delete .xml and replace it with .txt. You may be prompted that changing a file's extension may cause it to become unusable; you can ignore that.

Once you've done this, please attach the file here.
