Is this in Laserfiche Scanning? You can set how LFScanning remembers its template in its Options dialog (it will only inherit data from the Client's New Documents options the first time it's launched).
No, this is when we are manually indexing records after they have been scanned in to laserfiche.
Can you explain what you mean by "the setting doesn't hold"? Do you mean that the template is not correct when users first view the document after it is created in Laserfiche, or that you want to restrict users from changing the template?
The New Documents default template setting is only applied to documents as they are added, either by Scanning (as Miruna mentioned), importing (drag and drop, File > Import), or creating a new blank document. If the template is not assigned to newly created documents, then we need more information about how you are importing/creating/scanning the document.
If you wish to prevent users from changing the template after it is initially set, you need to look into Field Security, not default settings.
Brianna,
In your response you note that the default template setting is only applied to documents. Is there a way to assign a parent folder default template to newly created subfolders and their documents, or must it be done manually or with wf? Thank You
