Distorted image in Quickfields when rendering PDFs

asked on May 22, 2014

When I try to "scan" (upload) PDFs into Quickfields from my desktop, the resulting image is squished vertically, stretched horizontally and very faded. The original PDF had good image quality. How do I fix this?

We use a 3rd party library to extract images from PDFs, so it is possible that you're running into a bug. Please have your reseller open a case with Tech Support and attach a sample PDF.

We have run into this many times when simply trying to extract images from a PDF within the client. If you find a fix, let me know.

Unfortunately, it's not that straightforward. The PDF standard is very broad, so we run into different issues with various PDF quirks. We're fixing them as they arise, but it's not really possible to test all of them. If you could provide samples where it fails, that would help.

the PDF might be in a different view than what Quick Fields is expecting. Check to make sure that Quick Fields is set for. What source type are you using? Some might allow you to set it to Automatic, Landscape, or Portrait, but I do not think all sources allow that type of customization.
