Is there still 60GB free when the error is occurring or is it almost out? It may be worth opening a support case so we can troubleshoot this easier.
In Task Manager how are your CPU Usage and Memory Usage looking? What about disk space?

When the issue comes up, check the Windows Task Manager and see how burdened the CPU, Memory Usage, and disk space look. My guess is the machine is getting overwhelmed by something processing the 1500 images, especially if they are large.
