Question

Quickfields Sessions on shared PC

asked on May 20, 2014

So I have a client that uses a scanning Kiosk...they have 27 users that login to the kiosk with their own username and password.  Is there a way to make the Sessions available to all the users without having to login to the PC as each user and open each session independently?

For now, this information is stored in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Laserfiche\Quick Fields\Sessions.xml so the listing is kept per Windows user. You can copy the file from a user who already has a complete session listing and provide it for all other users of that PC by placing it in its respective location.

Another thing you could do is put shortcuts to the session files on the desktop of the default Windows user. They'll be reflected to the desktops of all the other users who log into the machine. Double-clicking a shortcut to the session file will launch QF and open that session.

I believe that a future version of QuickFields will include a server component that allows sessions to be stored centrally and (pushed|pulled)? to scanning stations.
