Saving Changes to Document

asked on May 19, 2014 Show version history

When closing an OLE Document laserfiche prompts you with options, currently it defaults to "Overwrite" and we would like it to default to "Discard Changes". Is there a way to accomplish this without changing the setting and selecting "don't ask me again"?

You want it to always silently discard the changes? The "don't ask me again" is intentionally disabled for that option to avoid this situation.

Just to be clear, i'm talking about this dialog which shows up in the client after modifying an electronic file:

The end user would like the prompt to continue to come up every time, but the radio button to default to discard changes rather than overwrite the existing document with the saved one.

In the Admin Console, set [Options]ElectronicImportOption to 0 in the user attributes tab for the user. Set it on the Everyone group to make it the global default.

Still defaults to overwrite. It will remember your previous selection in 8.2, however they are on 9.1 and it doesn't perform the same way

Sorry, there are actually two different options to set. If the document is under version control, it uses [Options]ElectronicImportOptionCheckIn. Try setting that to 0 as well. I tried it on the 9.1 client and that causes it to default to 'discard', although it will remember your change if you choose a different option (no way around that unfortunately).
