Question

Adding Monitored Repositories in Workflow and WFUser$ Password

asked on May 16, 2014

Hello…

I am trying to add another repository to the monitored repository list in Workflow…..but when I submit the required information, I get the nastygram that says the WFUser$ account is already being used, that continuing will reset the password for WFUser$ and that resetting the password may prevent ‘the other” Subscriber from monitoring the repository.

Our license model is United and we have 1 Workflow server.  From what I’ve read in Workflow help about WFUser$, I should not have a problem with changing the password for WFUser$ because we have only 1 Workflow server doing the monitoring.

  • Am I correct in assuming that if the password for WFUser$ is changed as a result of adding a monitored repository…it will not botch things up because I have only 1 Workflow server?
  • Does the Workflow service on the Workflow server have to be restarted after adding monitored repositories?

Thanks in advance.

  1. For peace of mind, you can look at the connected users of the repository you are adding and see if there is a WFUser$ already connected . If there isn't, it usually is safe for Workflow to reset it. If there is, it should tell you from what machine its connecting from.
  2. The Workflow service does not need to be restarted to pick up this change. The Workflow Subscriber checks for newly added repositories every minute or so). If you find that it hasn't picked up yet, you can restart the Workflow Subscriber service.

Hi Ed....

Thank you for your response.

That peace of mind you referred to means a lot....there are only two of us that support Laserfiche here (in addition to our other applications and duties) so we have enough to say grace over already without shooting ourselves in the foot by causing more problems because of something we did....so I just wanted to be sure.

Thanks again.......
