Question

Server Permissions to Manage Forms

asked on May 14, 2014

We have a customer who is using Windows Authentication on Forms and they have no issues administering Forms (creating Forms, running reports, building processes, ...) so long as their account also has local logon rights to the Forms server.  As soon as they remove that right the users can no longer access the administration portion of forms.  The customer would prefer not to add individuals with permissions on the actual server as non-IT personnel will be administering Forms.  Is there security in the site in IIS, the app pool, or on the forms folder the site is hosted from (C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Laserfiche Forms\Forms) that needs to be configured? Or is there something else I am missing?

Hi Beau,

This is still being looked into, however, can the server be placed somewhere that users don't have physical access to so they can't logon locally? They can just be denied remote access and not given local admin rights.

Regards

It is a VM and since the users don't have the tools to get console access, this is what they are doing.  Security through obscurity is a work-around but not an answer for this location as they lock everything down to the nth degree.  Is this a known limitation when using AD authentication for Forms & WebAccess?  What is the minimum windows server permission they need on the web server in order for this to work properly?
