Why the field format/arrangement in forms submission not exactly the same when save as pdf file in the repository

asked on May 14, 2014

Why the field format/arrangement in forms submission not exactly the same when save as pdf file in the repository?

In the screenshot attach the passport no. and visa validity as well as the date of approval and flight no. field were displayed side by side. But when  filled-up and save to repository it became one line and the 4 fields where displayed side to side.

See attach file.

Thanks for your update and we can reproduce with your process in Forms 9.1.This issue is fixed now and there won't be such problem with Forms 9.2.

I've had this happen to me as well, are you using any CSS or java to adjust alignments?  I noticed that using CSS for alignments can sometimes cause the form to not have the same alignments you are forcing.  Besides that, the box you see when filling out the form is not carried over once the form is saved for some reason.

When a form is set to read-only (for a user task or when it is saved to the repository) input boxes that aren't already read-only are replaced with other markup. That's why you're not seeing the box around certain fields in submissions in the repository.

My guess is that when these fields are made read-only (this happens when Forms saves them to the repository) there are some other CSS rules going into effect that are messing up the alignment. The answer to this question might apply in your situation, too.

Hi Manny, can you share your business process xml (or just the form you try to save to repo) here?

The fields were not read only, but I used CSS to format the fields. I have no knowledge of CSS but I tried to explore on how to use CSS. Attach is the xml file of the form. I renamed the file to pdf just to upload it.

Thank you.
