Question

Update Modified by

asked on May 9, 2014

So I have a customer that wants to be able to see who last modified a document.  However, the documents are going through a series of Workflows...so the "last modified by" is always the Workflow user we use.  So I'm thinking of adding a field to the Template called "Modified by" and updating that everytime a user that does not equal Workflow makes a change.  I'm not sure how to do this as I can't find any activities that seem to allow me to grab the "Modified by" data from Laserfiche?  Any suggestions.

In Workflow 9.1, you can use Select Additional Properties to find this information. Select Additional Properties is configured on the activities Find Entry, Find Entries, or Search Repository, and includes Last Modified By and Last Modified Date in the list of additional properties.

Much better. I always forget about the Select Additional Properties dialog.

Brianna,

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong...but all my entries are still being "modified by" Workflow (and that's what's ending up in the Template Field.  Here's what I have:

Starting Rule:  Entry Changes, Template equals Vouchers, User Does Not Equal Workflow

Does modifying a document always result in a workflow kicking off? You could have the workflow put the %(Initiator) token into the "Modified By" field. That gets the username of the person who did the action that satisfied the starting rule.
