How do I export documents from a Search result that has the same name without having to rename each of the documents?

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an easy workaround for the version of Laserfiche you're using short of renaming the documents in the repository or perhaps using the SDK to create an application that can handle mass file exports with file name conflicts.

I created a workflow that renames documents using metadata and the Entry ID when a tag is added, then reverses the names back to what they were originally once the tag is removed. I did it primarily as a workaround for the issue you are having (and wanting a descriptive file name).
- Start: Assign Tag > WF renames
- Export files
- Remove Tag > WF renames back to original name
What exactly is going wrong for you? Can you describe the process you are using?
If I export search results in a briefcase that have documents with the same name, the export is successful. Upon re-import, the documents are renamed according to the auto-rename settings for the repository.
I am not exporting as a briefcase to put back into Laserfiche. I am wanting to export the same named documents into a windows folder, however windows will not let me rename them on the fly as we do in Laserfiche.
Hi Jerry,
It seems that you are still using Laserfiche 8.2 where instead of being able to rename the documents on the fly, it only prompted you whether you wanted to overwrite the file or not.
In later versions, this isn't an issue. I would recommend upgrading to Laserfiche 9.1.1. For this situation now, you will get a "File Name Conflict" dialog where the file can get automatically renamed. See below
Thanks for the response. That is another reason for upgrading that I can provide to our management. Unfortunately that will not resolve my current issue and need an easy work around if there is one.
