Question

Question

this document contains no pages

asked on April 29, 2014

we have added pdf docs to a repository in PDF format.  the document  is listed in the console but we get a "this document contains no pages" when we view the document.  I can see the path to the image on the properties of the doc.  it is definitely in the volume.  I can also see the image if I right click the doc and choose "Open - electronic file"  why doesn't the document image show in the Laserfiche window?

I found this link

and this fix on the link

Hi Michel,

It looks like the resolution involved changing settings in IE.

Open Internet Explorer (I'm testing on IE10) and click the gear icon in the top right (alternatively, press alt and then open the "Tools" menu that appears). In that menu, select Manage Add-Ons. In this Window you need to find the Adobe Reader Add-On. For me to see it, I have to change the "Show" option to "All add-ons". If the Adobe PDF Reader Add-On is Disabled, it causes the LF Client to show the error "Unable to display the electronic file type for this document", and enabling the Add-On fixes the issue.

Hope that helps!

My Adobe Reader Add-on was enabled.  I disabled the reader and re-enabled the reader.  that fixed the problem.

thank you for the help.  this answers forum is awesome!

There is a separate pane for electronic files.

Turn that pane on and you should be able to see it in the viewer.

I am not able to see the screenshot very well. Can you attach it instead of embedding it in the post?

What PDF viewer is installed on the Client PC? Please indicate the specific application and version.

I found this post on the LF site.

https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1013281

the option mentioned in the article does not appear to be available on my version of PDF.  I can run any version of PDF reader LF recommends.  what should we be running if it matters?

Is that the only PDF application installed on the workstation? If another user logs into Windows on that problem PC, can they then view PDFs in the Client document viewer's Electronic File pane?

I am having this issue on at least one other machine.  I can log off and back on with another user to test.  I suspect the issue will still be here since it is happening on another machine
