Question

How does the Quick Fields Capture Engine retrieve documents?

asked on April 14, 2014

I am troubleshooting a setup where documents are scanned on one workstation and then deposited for pickup into a folder. The Capture Engine is configured to retrieve from that folder but it is not happening. I understand the process but not sure what triggers the retrieval.

In the Laserfiche Capture Engine settings, under the "General" tab, make sure that the user specified in the authentication settings has rights to the entries being processed. Next, under the "Filter" tab, make sure that the entries wanting to be processed meet the requirements of what is set there: search or path, type, template, fields, and tags. Lastly, under the "Retrieval" tab, make sure that the correct page data is selected.

What do you see in the output pane when you try to scan?

Check the "Connection" section of the Laserfiche Capture Engine scan source configuration and confirm that the user listed there has rights to the entries that are to be processed. Next, check the "Retrieve Entries" section and confirm that the entries meet whatever filtering rules are specified there. Lastly, check the Application Errors pane (F12) to see if any errors are reported when you try to scan documents using that Quick Fields session.

Sorry I should have clarified. This is QF 8.3. The Scan Source Setup in 8.3 appears to be different than what you described

I will check the contents of the output pane when the person at that station gets back from lunch.

Ok, if it says 0 pages it means it did not find any files. Check to make sure the file extensions match what is chosen to the right of your folder selection.
