Question

Question

how to use existing session

asked on April 14, 2014

With RA, if the Laserfiche client is already open, how can you use that session to say create a document using RA without having to use two licenses?

The 4 open sessions has no bearing on classic (team and united concurrent) licensing. In Classic licensing, every separate session pulls from the total concurrent license pool on the Server. If your connections are not sharing the sessions, they are each taking one concurrent license slot and you are presumably out. Basically, 'maximum number of sessions' in Laserfiche Avante is the 4 sessions for any specific named user account, but in Team/United it's that you have no concurrent licenses available and you'll need to wait until someone else logs out.

After extra testing, here are my findings;

The LF version is 9.03. This is a custom app that seems to work fine in the dev lab. The lab has Avante licensing and works great. The purpose of the app is to launch the laserfiche client using the client automation tools. The App stays open and the user can go back and forth to launch new scans.
However,  at the client site which uses Laserfiche classic in its licensing, we keep getting a ' max no. of sessions exceeded'.
What could be the explanation for this? I understand we should have upto 4 open sessions. But this is not happening. Even if you completely exit out of the client, you still get this message until maybe 20 seconds later after the scanning window is closed ( and i guess when the session opened by the client is completely dead).
We are using only RA and Client Automation tools. This is very urgent, if someone at Laserfiche can provide some guidance.
