Question

Distributed Scanners: Inexpensive stand-alone units with preview? Simple network scan stations?

asked on April 11, 2014

I'm trying to push scanning out to the office environment to allow users to quickly scan documents simply.  My requirements are fairly basic:

I'd like to be able to have a user scan a document, name it.

preview it, and send to network share for ImportAgent to pick up.

We're talking about people who don't typically need to be in Laserfiche but need to submit the documents and need some way to preview the scan.

Is there a network scanner with a preview display? Otherwise, simple desktop with simple scanner and, hopefully, simple software.

The issue I'm having is that most software actually complicates this matter--too many features.  I'd like to be able to scan something, name it, preview it, and save it to a network share.

Thanks,

Adam

Hi, Adam

You might want to look at the Fujitsu Fi-6140Z Scanner Units. They are bundled with a software called ScandAll Pro. We configured the software so we have hot keys that allows the user to enter option 1 to 10 it would scan to different locations and give them a preview before they hit save. You can customize the output to be PDF or Tiff.

The best true network scanning scanner that I see in production is the Canon ScanFront 300. You can create Scan-To-Job buttons that can each have their own profile rules and store in specific network folder shares that Laserfiche Import Agent can monitor. The scanner also has a 8.4" screen that user can preview the scanned images and type in the document name.

Here is a link to a demo video of the scanner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIfh3xq2ELk

Here is a link to scanner specifications: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/office/products/hardware/scanners/network_scanners/imageformula_scanfront_300#Overview

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Jerry
