Question

Forms Authentication for Windows Accounts

asked on April 10, 2014

I have a customer who is looking to utilize their Windows Accounts to log-in to Laserfiche Forms.  In Forms, I have added the users and given appropriate permissions for each form.  When the user tried to log-in with their Windows Credentials, it returns an error.  After investigating, the users did have a password inside the Admin Console (because they log-in using Windows Auth.) applied to their account.  I have several users looking to access these Forms and it is very time-prohibitive to set a password for each user.  Please let me know what needs to be done to use the Windows Authentication in Laserfiche Forms.

Thanks,

Nate Barker

Have these accounts been allocated named user licenses?

We are using Forms with Windows Accounts without any problems. In the formsconfig setup page you need to make sure that the following fields are setup correctly to have the users login without having to use the domain in front of the username.

And as Justin said, make sure they have been allocated a named user license.

Windows users should not have a password associated with their account in Admin Console like repository users do. It sounds like the users may have been added incorrectly. Check the administration help files for more information on adding Windows users.

Brianna does have a really good point. If they are actual Windows Accounts in the Admin Console, there isn't a location to put a password. They would have to be a Laserfiche User to be able to have a password assigned to them. As a Laserfiche User they can be linked to domain account.
