How to back date filing date of the files in Transparent Record Management Records Folder for older files?

asked on April 9, 2014 Show version history

 Hello Laserfiche Gurus

I have implemented Transparent RME for our client which file the files into RME.    For existing files, we like to use the field value that is called "Document Date" .

They also, have huge volume of files that we are using LF SDK to bring into Laserfiche server.  We will be using Workflow to file all these files.

Using Workflow, Is it possible to use "Document Date" field value to create filing date?

Workflow will process the document based on required fields, create folders, and we also want the creation date of the entry to come from the "Document Date" field.

Thanks for you help

You need the SDK. Workflow does not have any default activities for changing record properties.

It is possible to change the filing date for a record, which is what you mentioned in your title, but that is not the same as changing the creation date which (as Miruna said) cannot be changed.

Workflow does not have activities for automation of Records Management (RM) actions because the DoD standards state RM should not be automated (see Miruna's answer to this post).

However, I think it is possible to write an SDK script to change the filing date, which could then be used in a Workflow. This post touches briefly on using a script to perform an RM action.

Ok... We do have date field that we can insert into filing date in record properties.   Can I use workflow default activities to change the record's filing date or we need an SDK to do this portion of the work flow?  Sorrey I am not clear..

Thanks

The creation date is the date the document entered Laserfiche. It cannot be backdated.
