Page Search Broken?

asked on April 4, 2014 Show version history

I'm trying to search for pages within a document that contain "blank" or incorrect images (usually small in size).

When I use the Page search option it just spins and says searching. I purposefully put only 1 document into a folder, with 1 page and set the size to search for a page to less than that contained in the document. I also added the Within Folder in the same search.

Any ideas? I showed it to our imaging vendor and they suggested checking on here.

Search Settings:

Within Folder set to folder with only 1 document, with only 1 page, with an image of less than 100KB

Pages set to look for Contains-Any Page-Image-Less Than-100KB

UPDATE:

Tried searching on another workstation and same issue.

I tried again last night when I turned Indexing back on and it gave the same result.

I just checked the image and it IS only 98KB, just to be sure I checked that folder for any pages over 0KB and it still gave me the same result.

I tried the advanced search once before but I'll try it once more.

*Advanced Search does the same thing.

4/10/14: I did get an error this time: Error Code: 784
Error Message: Operation timed out. [784]

It seems to just time out. I had done an advanced search for ImageSize<102400

Hi

What version of Laserfiche are you using and do other searches work? What is the exact search syntax that you are running?

I would do the following:

-Run a simpler search to check that the Full Text-Indexing is working

-Check to see if the search works on another workstation

-Does the "hung" search eventually return an error

I'm running Version Client 9.0.2.671

All my other searches work fine (Within Folder, Fields...)

I am in the process of reindexing, but not during business hours since our Quick Fields took a significantly longer time to process into the repository, but I wasn't told Indexing needs to be on or not for this search because it's not looking for text, just images.

I'll check another workstation, but I read through the documentation and didn't find anything involving Pages search and Indexing. I'll try that later today after close and see if it works.

If you have a for sure answer on that, I'd appreciate it.

Also, no error comes back. Eventually the searching box just disappears and no results show.

Hi

I have seen in the past where searches crash/timeout if the Full Text & Indexing Service is not running even if it is a simple search that does not require it.

If the other searches work then it sounds like there is an issue with the search syntax. I ran the following search on our demo repository without issues.

What is the exact search that you are running?

{LF:imagesize < 102400} & {LF:LOOKIN="LFDEMO\INCOMING DOCUMENTS"}

Also 100KB for an image is not particularly large depending on your scan settings (my test search returned nearly all of the documents in the folder).

Also, did you check to see if the images that you are testing are less than 100kb in size?

Can you perform the advanced search while logged into the repository as an administrative user that has the Bypass Browse feature right? Also, run the search without the within folder parameter. The advanced search would look like

{LF:pagecount = 1} & {LF:imagesize < 102400}

See if that search returns results for you.

Same result. Tried being logged in as my admin and in adminstration console I see I have Bypass Browse

Please contact your Laserfiche reseller to open a support case so we can investigate the matter further.
