Hi, we have a client on United 7.x, and they want to move to Avante, is the migration the same as moving to another United - meaning move/attach repository and DBs, or is it more complex?
The migration process is the same, but you will have a few user configuration things to do after the migration is completed.
In LF 7, the user access type used (Full or Read Only) is controlled by the client software. As of LF 8, that is moved into the user profile. So for each user that will be Read Only, their user must be assigned as Read Only. This can be done by creating a Read Only group and any member will then pick up the Read Only attribute, or in the user profile you can mark it as Read Only. I feel it is easiest to use the group route, but that is my preference.
Finally, Avante uses Named licenses, so you need to assign a license to your users and/or devices. Any one that tries to access the repository without a license assigned to their user or the device they are logging in from will be denied.
