Weblink Log

asked on April 3, 2014 Show version history

So we have a customer that when they login to the Admin console, they see that the Weblink User (public portal) is logging in about every 30 seconds.  However, when they look at the IIS log file, it doesnt' show that there is any activity taking place in those 30 seconds.  So what's happening is that all their Weblink User licenses are being taken up, however, there isn't anyone actually logging into their website.  Any ideas...they did create a robots.txt file, so we're not sure if that's the problem or what?  Any ideas??

Just figured it out...it's a webcrawler...any ideas on how to handle that??  Yandex (russian search engine) and it's using all the licenses??

If WebLink can identify a request as coming from a crawler/bot, it will terminate the Laserfiche session immediately.  The string patterns that it uses to identify bots are in the web.config file, this thread describes how to update the listing.

Brian,

Looking for that thread to edit the "robot.txt" file and what exactly needs to be included in that file.

Any chance you can help out on that?

Thanks!

Robots.txt is a web standard described here, among other places.  If you want to tell crawlers that they are not welcome, that's where you would communicate that.  It has no effect on the behavior of the WebLink site.

This is separate from the section of the web.config file that helps identify bots, so that WebLink can abandon their session.  That old forum seems to be temporarily unavailable, and I've notified the relevant team.

Good Morning,

We are starting to see this be an issue with many customer who have Weblink open to the public. I tried to reference the threads mentioned but it looks like there may be an issue with the links. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
