LaserFiche 9.1 slow on data queries with SQL Server 2012

posted on April 3, 2014

A customer has upgraded their Laserfiche to version 9.1 and are connected to SQL server 2012 64 bit.

We have come across an issue where documents that are being opened take long to open, sometimes up to 10 seconds. If we close the meta data pane the document opens instantly. We have checked the resources on Laserfiche server, on the SQL Server and the network and there don’t seem to be any bottlenecks anywhere or and over loaded system components.

We have also manually queried data and that responds instantly. Could re-indexing the repository solve the delay?

What happens when you open a document that has no metadata and the metadata pane is configured to display. Do you experience the same issue?

If Yes it may be a client software issue

If No it is likely a database read issue, do you have a profiler?

I doubt it is related to your search index in any way. That metadata is a query of the database.

If a document that has no meta data attached to it with the meta data pane open, these still open fast. We tested the read speed from the database server with large queries and all still queries very quickly, we thought it may be a read issue but all our tests prove that the database server is responding very quickly. Almost instantaneously. This leads us to think it may be something else causing the issue.
