Question

partial optimizing index files task space requirements?

asked on March 31, 2014 Show version history

Hello,

We have an index that is around 30GB. We also have around 30GB free hard drive space.

This happens every night.

20 minutes after a partial optimizing index files task starts the drive runs out of space. It then returns to 30GB free immediately afterwards.

Does it require as much space as the entire index to do this task?

Here are some images of the SEARCH8 Dir and the task kicking off followed by the hard drive running out of space. Every time we log into the system there is 30GB free though. It frees up the space again right after.

It does appear that the .new files are created during optimization and there appear to be the exact same size as the entire index. I think it is safe to say that the task requires about the size of the index in free space to run.

In the process of optimizing or partial optimizing, LFFTS will use at least twice size of index files, which is 60GB in your case. You can increase your free space from 30GB to 70-80GB, that should be enough to perform optimization.
