Adobe Files not saving in Laserfiche in latest version

asked on March 28, 2014 Show version history

When editing adobe documents in adobe that were opened from the Laserfiche client I am getting a different save window then the usual "overwrite, create new copy, etc" Laserfiche prompt.

It was working fine when I had Nitro PDF installed but with Adobe Reader and Standard it does not let me save any changes.

The save window is just a browser pointing to a temp folder on the local workstation hard drive.

Other electronic file like Power Point and Word do not have any problems saving from their native application.

This seems to be happening on all our test machines.

Does anyone else have this problem?

This is an issue specifically with Adobe Acrobat/Reader 11. There was a variation of this issue with Adobe Acrobat/Reader 10.

When you open a PDF from the Client in a native Adobe application and edit the PDF, you need to save changes to the PDF first.

In Adobe 10, you could click the "Save" toolbar button or just click File > Save. Then you can close the Adobe application and the Client will prompt you about saving as a new document, a new version, overwriting the existing document, etc.

In Adobe 11, you still need to save the PDF first, but this time, you will get prompted with a "Save As" dialog from Adobe. Even if you save it to the temp location in Windows first and then close the Adobe application, you will still then get prompted by Laserfiche about saving as a new document, a new version, overwriting the existing document, etc. and the changes are saved back into Laserfiche properly.

Aha! The save to the temp location does update the document. I never see the prompt but I do see my changes in the system. Thanks.

I just ran into this problem with Adobe 2015 (version 2015.007.20033).  I ran through the save as options but at the end I wasn't prompted to save a new version and my changes weren't saved.  Do I need to do something different?

Thanks,
Sandy
