Question

Resolve Shortcuts in Weblink

asked on March 28, 2014

We have a number of clients who use shortcuts in their repositories.  When they search in the client with the "Resolve Shortcuts" checkbox checked, "Within Folder" searches work fine.  When they have users doing the same search in Weblink, they get no search results.  My understanding is that WebLink cannot currently resolve shortcuts.  Is this correct?  If so, can this be added as a feature?  This would be beneficial for several of our clients.

Thanks for keeping the older posts out there!  I was able to resolve a no results search issue in Weblink using these posts.

My problem was that Minutes and Agenda docs that could be found via navigation on Weblink, would not come up when using the search box (searching for a word within a minutes or agenda doc, or just searching using "Minutes" or "Agenda".  The public user was trying to find any minutes that had to do with a certain subdivision, using the name of the subdivision.  I could find what she was looking for in Laserfiche using a text only search, but Weblink would not bring up the same search results.  Headed to Laserfiche Answers and found these posts.  Was able to go into Weblink Designer 9 (which we are still using).  Highlighted the custom link to the documents (on the Welcome tab) and selected the "Search Options" tab.  I then was able to select the Resolve Shortcuts check box in the lower left corner of the window (see image).

Wanted to include a little more detail in case it might help someone else.  Thanks again!

Christine

You are correct. We already have a feature request for a "Resolve Shortcuts" option for WebLink: we recognize that it is often necessary for setups like transparent records management.

Brianna,

Hello, just curious has this "Resolve Shortcuts" option in Weblink been implemented? We are using TRM, and users can not perform simple searches in Weblink for record shortcut by name, they must know where to look and use drill down from the browse menu. LF 9.1, Weblink 8.2.1 (Build 107)

Thank You

There is not yet a version of WebLink with this feature.

Brianna,

You say "not yet" does that mean it could be in the near future? Hoping, praying, pleading...

WebLink 9 is on the roadmap for the first quarter of this year. We do not have an exact date for the release. We are aiming to include this feature in that release as checkbox in the WebLink Designer that would allows admins to toggle "resolve shortcuts" on or off.

I have similar issue with Weblink Search for one of my clients.  The question from customer was if Short cuts are not resoved for Weblink, can we take away the search within forlder from the search section so its not an option for user?  (User are only useing weblink for transparent RME documents and only have access to folder that will only have shortcuts).
