Feature Request - License Manager

asked on March 26, 2014

Hi

I would like to see the following features in the License Manager:

1. Have a description field for the product licenses. Being able to distinguish between multiple computers easily, especially when computer naming conventions are not all the same.

2. Be able to create license pools. I would like to be able to allocate a pool of licenses to a specific business unit/company and easily manage their licenses. For example, Business Unit A willl have their own license manager that will log in and they will be given 10 licenses in their pool. If there are 100 licenses in total, they will not have access to the other 90. The other 90 will be allocated to other business units. This feature is especially useful for customers who manage licenses across multiple companies, where each company has their own IT department and they want to manage their own licenses allocated to them.

Regards,

Sheldon

Included in Rio 9.2 is Laserfiche Directory Server 9.2, which includes license pools (called organizations) application descriptions. See the new features KB for more information.

Product and machine descriptions and license pools are currently on track for the next version of License Manager, due for release later this year.

For the second one, what is your current setup for it? Are these companies on entirely separate domains? How do their servers communicate with the License Manager to validate licenses?

Hi Miruna,

Thank you for the update. Looking forward to the new version.

To answer your question, yes. All these companies are on entirely separate domains, however, their servers are able to talk to each other and I have already tested that they are able to communicate with the License Manager.

Thanks and regards

Sheldon
