You can read record properties as additional properties in Find Entry, Find Entries and Search Repository as of 9.1.

We've stayed away from RM actions in the past as DoD standards say RM actions should not be automated.

I would like to build workflows that can use Records Management actions such as: Set event date, perform cutoff, etc. Also the ability for workflow to read records related properties.

What functionality would you like? Can you give us more information on your use cases?

The one I would find most helpful would be setting the Filing Date on a record folder.  We have lots of customers that are back-scanning documents and the Workflow is creating old record folders for those documents.  Since the timing triggering when those folders are eligible for cutoff and thus eligible for destruction can be based on the RM folder's filing date, these customers are having to manually set the Filing Date for all of the RM folders created by Workflow.  In some cases this is large organizations with 20+ departments each having 50+ record series which in turn have 30+ individual yearly folders.  Thus it is a daunting task for them to have to set the filing date on each RM folder when Workflow should be easily able to do that.  I understand that DOD doesn't want to automate Records Management and I agree when it comes to cutoffs, freezing records, & destruction.  But for everything else DOD shouldn't dictate the capabilities provided to the thousands of non-DOD customers.
