Question

what happened to the background color setting in ScanConnect?

asked on March 24, 2014

Just upgraded a scanning workstation to LF 8.3. the old versions had a setting to change background color from black to white on sheet sizes less than letter, but its been totally removed. now we are generating pages with black backgrounds. How can that be changed?

The scanner properties dialogs depend on the scanner, they're not controlled by Laserfiche. Are you sure DR5010-C has the same options as DR-X10C?

ScanConnect does not have an option for changing the background color.

What version of Laserfiche Scanning and ScanConnect were you using before? Are you sure you weren't using Kofax as your scan engine before or that you didn't have a Border Removal process?

version 8.1 does have that option. see the attached image

We have just deployed 8.3 on a Windows 7 PC with a Canon DR5010-C scanner.

It replaces a Windows XP PC with LF 8.0.

Auto-sensing paper size is failing on this new 8.3 computer.I am positive I am using the ScanConnect driver. Kofax is not even an option.

Thanks for your help.

the image came from another computer that has 8.1 and a different Canon scanner, not to confuse anyone. the scanner properties tab lost  options on 8.3 versus 8.1, even a tab was removed.  In this case we scan checks in between letter size pages and we are generating a lot of black space when the checks go through the scanner.

Why would LF remove the option to change the background color anyway?

These unintuitive settings may be the solution. This unit does not have the option to change background color.

DR5010C is one of the older model Canon scanners. The combination of settings being unintuitive might be why Canon changed them for newer models. Glad you found a workaround for it.
