Kofax VRS not automatically loading in Quick Fields 9 (Windows 7)

Has anybody else had issues where Kofax VRS does not load upon opening Quick Fields 9 on Windows 7 machines?  There are no errors, but when you click scan, nothing happens.  If you manually load the scan source, VRS loads in the tray at the bottom right, and you can begin scanning.  

 

I've had this happen on 3 or 4 separate computers, but I'm not sure if it's related to Windows 7 or Quick Fields 9, as they've all been situations where both were upgraded at the same time.  

 

UAC is down on all of the machines, but I'm sure it could be that permissions to certain folders/files need to be manually adjusted.  Any insight would be very helpful - thanks!

Hi Tim,

 

We have an SCR for this issue and will be looking into it. The workaround would be as you've mentioned in your initial post. We'll update this thread when we have information regarding a fix.

This issue is addressed. Please apply the Quick Fields 9.0 hotfix from KB 1013497.

If you open the application errors pane (F12), are there any errors listed?

There are no errors listed.  Here's a new wrinkle; I just had it happen with Quick Fields 8.0 as well.

Is Kofax working at all? Does it work in Laserfiche Scanning, and can you launch the Kofax VRS Test Console?

Yes, it even works within Quick Fields, you just have to load the scan source again.  It's just the initial time you open up Quick Fields it doesn't cause VRS to load up fully.

We've just upgraded our scanner workstations to Windows 7 and Quick Fields 9 and I've just spent a few hours trying to figure out what's going wrong.

 

How did this get through QC?

 

We need a fix ASAP.
