Question
Question
New document from existing pages reverting to default values in template
Answer
The issue may be that you have the metadata dialog appear during new document creation. When you create a new document from an existing document, the metadata dialog appears and the field values are set to their defaults as configured in the Laserfiche Administration Console. If you uncheck the option of having the metadata dialog appear during new document creation, then new documents created from existing documents will keep the field values set on the source document.

Hi Don,
This seems to be an issue using Laserfiche Server 9.1.0. It's highly recommended to upgrade to Laserfiche Server 9.1.1 as it doesn't have this issue.
We are already at LF Server version 9.1.1 and continue to have this issue
What client side application and version is being used? Please contact your reseller to open a case with Laserfiche Support.
The Laserfiche Full Client is 9.1.1.486. As far as I know this is the latest version of the LF Full client software. All the server backend components are version 9.1.1 as well.

That is not the behavior that LF Client had in previous versions. I also checked the LF Webaccess client and when you do the exact same thing and display the metadata dialog, then it shows the field values where there are default field values, as the value set by the parent document not as the default value. That is how the LF Client worked in the past and now that behavior has recently change in LF 9.1. So you are inconsistent between the LF Webaccess client and the full client now. I am not sure if you made a modification to change the behavior of the LF Full CLient in this latest version by choice or if it was an oversight. The users are used to how this process has behaved and prefer it that way. When I worked with our Var, here is what we got back from the VAR:
Hello Don,
Here is what Laserfiche said “We are able to reproduce the issue here. The SCR(software change request) has been filed for the issue. The SCR for your reference is 112856.”

So this sounds like a modification will be made to change this behavior back to the way it has been previously working in prior versions. It would be good to be consistent with the behavior between the web version and the full client version.
Thanks

I have a question regarding turning off the 'always show Metadata dialog' option. What else would this then affect other than document separation and import (I see that with importing documents it will bring in based on the default template listed and then will err and open the metadata if there is a required field on the template)? Is there anywhere else that would need to be tested other than snapshot and import that this setting would apply to?
Not sure if changing this setting is a viable route to take (we've encountered the same issue) if it then creates bigger problems elsewhere and just want to make sure I test out all variables and make the decision knowledgeably.
Thanks!
