Forms 9.1 Database Lookup causing slow loading

asked on March 12, 2014

I have a rather large database i am pulling from for lookup fields in forms 9.1. It is pulling the data and populating a drop down in my form with a scrolling wheel. This is causing a very long delay in a person being able to type i the box. This delaying is causing this form to be unsuable, and script errors.

How can i have the lookup only pull data once the user is finished typing?

In 9.1.1, you can disable the "auto-suggest" feature for lookup rules for your Forms Server.  See this KB article for more information.

So this feature can only be turned on or off at the server level? Will there be a way in the future to be able to enable or disable on a per form basis?

When performing the steps in the KB Article, does it then make it behave like 9.0 did where the drop-down lists still auto-populate, but just not the single line fields?

Hi Blake,

After adding the DisableAutoPopulateIn91 and set value to True, it will disable both drop-down list auto-populate and single line auto-suggest, so it'll be different from 9.0. KB article has been updated with more detail information.

Best wishes,

Abby

Feature will be turned on and off at server level. You can use a Fill only lookup rule to achieve the auto-suggest behavior for individual form.

This has helped a bit. it is still looking for data. I am hoping there is a way so it is like QuickFields lookup that once you tab out of the box then it pulls data, not with every keystroke. Is this possible?
