Question

Quick Fields or QF AND WF

asked on March 12, 2014

Can Quick Fields force a Naming Convention AND create shortcuts for a user or is WorkFlow also required?  Need for force ALL docs to be saved in Record Series but have shortcuts where the staff will expect them in the User Interface set of folders.  If anyone has set this up and can provide me with details, it would help me get set up faster.  (Brand new to LF and designing the whole repository and user interface for a County.)  Thx!

Quick Fields is an image processing application, so it can't create shortcuts or rename existing documents. You want Workflow for that. See this white paper for an overview of how you would set that up. Post back any questions that come up.

Finally got WorkFlow installed, but am now stuck on something else.  Thanks for the white paper tip.  I have printed it for further reference when I get back to this.

Quick Fields does not create shortcuts. If you want shortcuts, you will need to use Workflow in conjunction with Quick Fields. You can use the document class definition to set the workflow to be run when the document class is used to identify a document and then to store that document in Laserfiche.

Or you can use the workflow with a starting rule to make your shortcuts when a new document is created inside the Record Series.

Thanks for the tips. I'm back to building metadata templates and reworking the naming convention ideas, but will come back to this soon.
